Rhythms: “Del Sueño /Of the Dream” by Rafael Jesús González*

Del sueño

La vida, dijo el viejo,

es solamente un sueño.

Tal vez pero en ese sueño son

nuestros más grandes inventos:

          los dioses y la justicia.

Lejos, lejos somos

de perfeccionar a nuestros dioses

          y lograr la justicia.

Para eso es preciso despertar

          y despertando,

                       amar.

Of the Dream

Life, said the old man,

is only a dream.

Perhaps but in that dream are

our greatest inventions:

            the gods & justice.

Far, far are we

from perfecting our gods

            & achieving justice.

For that we must awake

          & awakening,

                  love.
