The total volume of water on the sutface of the Earth is estimated at 1.386 billion km³ (333 million cubic miles), with 97.5% being salt water and 2.5% being fresh water.

Of the fresh water, only 0.3% is in liquid form on the surface.

May 8 is Great Lakes Awareness Day.

Great Lakes are really fresh water inland seas: There’s over 245,000 square kilometers of fresh water in the Great Lakes system and connective links.  21% of the Earth’s fresh water volume is found in the Great Lakes system. From Ontario to Erie, (Lake St, Clair  not officially Great Lake) to Huron, Superior and Michigan.

Clean fresh water is a precious natural resource that should be free to all creatures of the Earth.
